about this project

Located in the heart of Melbourne Beach, this project was part of the homeowners' larger vision for the property to embody the lush gardens of Bali with a formal element of symmetry. With dense hedges of clusia along the perimeter, stately bottle and travelers palms framing the entry, and the shaded canopy and winding branches of a central live oak, the foundation was set for us to bring in colorful, lush understory plants.

Our primary goal with this project was to tailor a plant palette that would not only incorporate the broad-leafed foliage and vibrant inflorescence endemic to the densely shaded gardens of Bali, but one that would withstand the salty seaside winds, drought, and intense sun exposure typical of Florida summers. We selected ginger, philodendrons, iris, lilies, and a variety of low-growing and large specimen bromeliads to create a balance of color, form, and texture to the entrance of the home that's both structural and organic.

We used all forms of social media to meet the audience in their most comfortable locations, and talked in their own language.
